The Marin Economic Forum launched in January 2010 as a non-profit public private partnership, following almost three years of preparatory work by the Marin Economic Commission (MEC). Over the course of many years, the Marin Economic Commission researched, gathered information, and conducted studies of economic sustainability and targeted industries specific to Marin.

As a result to recommendations made in the MEC’s 2008 report to the Marin County Board of Supervisors, the County Community Development Agency contracted an Economic Sustainability Coordinator who worked with a volunteer Steering Committee made up of representatives from business, non-profits, local government and education to create the structure, form a board, and launch the MEF. Now underway, the MEF is executing its work plan to do the work it was created to do, to provide a focus for economic vitality in Marin.
